  Unfortunately, the buyer doesn't pick the escrow company. So when you're a hapless home buyer -- like me -- and Mara Escrow starts messing things up, there's nothing you can really do. But at least you'll be prepared for the horror. My escrow officer, Ms. Noah, never called back when I had a question. Instead she would send cryptic, misspelled emails that didn't address any of my queries. Frustrating, but not the worst of it... The worst was when she decided to take 2 days off from work... the two days before my closing date. And guess what? She's the only notary in the office. So not only did I have to scramble to find myself a notary at the last minute, no one from her office even bothered to explain the 60 pages of documents I was signing. Oh, and they did the math wrong. So I owed another $1,700 when all was said and done. I never write these reviews. But Mara's shoddy customer service, boneheaded math blunders, and total lack of communication drove me to it. Avoid.
